We all are at some point in our lives affected by pain. Sometimes it can go on its own and sometimes we may need to use over the counter medication to quell the pain. Irrespective of what type of pain is affecting you, you are likely to become less active and may not enjoy family time or even work.

However, sometimes rushing to the hospital or taking medication can be your last option expressly if you are at home. That is because most of the products and ingredients we use at home can act as pain relievers. Here are some of those amazing pain relief solutions you can use at home.

1. Fish oil

Fish oil plays a significant role in pain relieving as it contains anti-inflammatory properties. Research has shown that taking 1200 milligrams of fish oil supplements and docosahexaenoic and eicosapentaenoic acid can relieve inflammatory pain like back pain or neck pain. So if you have that pain that just doesn’t go away, ditch those painkillers and grab that fish oil bottle in your kitchen and start using it.

2. Turmeric

Also known as Curcuma longa, turmeric is a popular ingredient in our kitchen and widely used in cooking due to its health benefits to the human body. Turmeric also has excellent anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe the pain. Prolonged use of turmeric gradually elevates chronic pain, particularly in seniors who may complain about back pain, knee pain, or headache.

3. Ice

Using ice as a pain reliever is a common practice for most people, especially those with young children. Using ice on small burns, and swellings or bruises on kids after a fall works excellently as ice reduces swelling. When knocked or hit by an object, the pain is usually sharp and makes you feel hot–that is why you sweat when in pain. Ice plays the role of cooling the painful area. Alternatively, a bag of frozen corn or peas does the magic.

4. Make use of your orange- lime juice.

Did you know that simply taking orange juice can help reduce pain? Well, oranges and limes contain vitamin C, which not only sweeps the body of destructive free radicals which can be harmful to the joints but also a significant component of the joints. Studies showed that individuals who take high levels of vitamin C are less likely to have joint pain! Now you know.

5. The heat therapy

The same way heat kills germs is the same way it curbs pain. In fact, cold and heat therapy goes hand in hand. The heat therapy, however, works well when combined with salt. A hot Epsom salt bath changes the nervous input and soothes both the body and the brain. This therapy is best used for people with lingering back spasms and not acute injuries.

6. Resveratrol.

Definitely not in your home. Right? Wrong. If you have taken berries, grapes, or red wine before, then you must have ingested Resveratrol. It is popularly known for its many beneficial effects like life-prolonging, anti-cancer, brain protective, and recently has been said to have some pain relieving properties.
